Fergus Falls junior Jaden Miller finished second with a personal best time of 1:56.00 in the Class AA 800 meter run finals on Saturday at St. Michael-Albertville High School.  Shane Zierden, who was runner-up in the triple jump on Friday, ended up fifth in the long jump (21-06.50).  The Otter girls’ 4x800 meter relay team (9:52.13) did not place.

Perham junior Bjorn Anderson claimed second place in the 1600 meter run (4:14.37).  Jaden Hackel was fourth (36-07.75) in the AA girls’ triple jump and Gracie Morris of the Yellowjackets took fifth place in the pole vault (11-00).  The 4x800 Perham relay team wound up in ninth place with a time of 9:44.17.  Avalee Brown, Cora Grismer, Aspen Rohde and Caidyn Breid were on that team.

 

Fergus Falls senior Shane Zierden claimed runner-up honors in the Class AA Triple Jump competition at the State Track and Field Meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School on Friday.  Zierden had a jump of 46-feet-5-and-3/4-inches.  He will compete in the Long Jump finals on Saturday.  Otter junior Jaden Miller qualified for the finals in the 800 meter run with a personal best time of 1:57.98, the fifth fastest qualifying time.

Perham junior Bjorn Anderson finished eighth in the 3200 meter run (9:31.35).

 

The Fergus Falls girls’ track and field team qualified their 4x800 meter relay team of Estee Versteeg, Cassie Wellman, Carsyn Lill and Alexis Wellman to the AA State Meet at St. Michael-Albertville next Thursday through Saturday.  They finished third but met the state qualifying standard with a time of 9:39.47.  The Otters 4x100 meter relay team of Rachel DeBrito, Mayah Fear, Siiri Smestad and Ruby Ellison also qualified for state by meeting the state qualifying standard with a time of 50.23 seconds.

“The 4x800 was such a fun way to start the meet,” said Head Coach Niki Welde of the Otters.  “Those girls worked every leg of that race to beat the clock today.  I still have a smile on my face from the 4x100 relay.  These girls were laser focused on bettering their time to qualify.  Getting the school record is the icing on the cake.”

Sabrina Fronning, Ashlyn Fronning, Maranda Hoffman and Anna Anderson held the old record of 50.3 seconds.

Jaden Miller qualified for the Boys’ State Meet, winning the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.00.
