Dave Cresap, a celebrated longtime coach of high school boys basketball in Minnesota and North Dakota, is taking his talents to a college court: Cresap has been hired as the new head coach of the M State Spartans men’s basketball team.
Best known for his award-winning 28-year coaching career with the Perham Yellowjackets, Cresap’s record in Minnesota includes five state tournament appearances (between 2011 and 2022) and more than 660 wins – the eighth-most career victories of any boys basketball coach in the state – including 10 conference championships.
The 2022-2023 All-Heart-O’ Lakes Conference Boys’ Basketball Team has been announced. The HOL coaches vote on the team with each coach voting for twelve player that are not on their own team. The coaches also vote on the MVP, casting votes for their top three candidates, in order, again not including their own players. For the second year in a row, DGF senior Owen Leach has been named the Most Valuable Player in the HOL. Leach led his team to a fourth place finish in the Class AA State Tournament this past weekend.
The second-seeded Albany Huskies will play for the Class AA State Boys’ Basketball Championship on Saturday after beating Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 79-64 in their semifinal round matchup on Friday at Target Center. The Huskies will face number five seed Minnehaha Academy who defeated top-seeded Holy Family Catholic 76-72 in the semifinals.
