Top-seeded Thief River Falls was pushed to the brink by fourth-seeded Hawley on Wednesday night before the Prowlers were able to escape their Section 8AA semifinal contest with a 66-65 win over the Nuggets in Detroit Lakes.

“Endings are tough and to end the season in a game like we did tonight seems to multiply that feeling,” commented Hawley Head Coach Nate Stoa. “Our kids left it on the floor and I am proud of how they played. I’m sure we’ll be able to look back and wish we handled some offensive possessions better or did a better job on the glass, but in the long run, the effort cannot be questioned.”

Sam Senske produced a game high 36 points and Brevin Stoa joined him in double figures with 11.

Jack Manning led TRF with 26 points.  Jake Rosendahl and Caleb Rosendahl were also in double digits with 20 and 11 points, respectively.

Hawley ends the season with a final record of 17-10.

Thief River Falls is 27-2 heading into the Section 8AA championship game in DL on Friday.
