“We are beginning to defend with great intensity and very good positioning on and off the basketball,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Gregg Preston. “Rothsay is a good shooting team and we knew that we would have to defend the perimeter well and control the paint to stop ball penetration. We are also very pleased with how every player that gets on the court is contributing in so many ways.”
The Comets shot 43% (25-58) from the field. They were led by 21 points from Sander Frustol, 15 from Thomas Zwiers and 11 from Micah Foss. Logan Disabella chipped in with 9. Rebound leaders were Frustol with 8 and Zwiers with 7. Gabriel Preston distributed 4 assists and had 3 steals. Micah Foss and Zwiers also had four assists each as the Comets had 19 team assists in the victory.
“Thomas and Sander played extremely well together,” noted Preston. “They made it difficult to get many good looks in the paint for the Tigers. Logan and Micah combined for six 3-pointers which also helped to extend the defense, and Jowell Seymour came off the bench and contributed very good minutes.”
Hillcrest (6-3) will play Oak Grove in Fargo at 4:30pm Saturday.
