Comets Compete at Border West Track and Field Invitational

The Hillcrest Academy Track and Field Team traveled to Wheaton on Monday to compete in the Border West Invitational.  “This was a small meet with five schools all about the same size,” reported Hillcrest Head Coach Allen Aase.  “We had 11 athletes place in the top six for the first time this year.”

Border West captured first place in both the boys’ and girls’ team competition.  The Hillcrest girls’ placed second and the Comet boys’ were third.

 

The Comets had first place finishes in the boys’ 4x400 relay (Matthew Knutson, Gabe Swedenburg, Drew Fischer, Maverick Peterson) with a time of 3:55; the girls’ 4x400 relay (Brooke Swedberg, Ruby Peterson, Emme Berge, Kaia Fiskness) with a time of 4:30; and the girls’ 4x800 relay (Katie Holzner, Elsa Retzlaff, Emme Berge, Kaia Fiskness) with a time of 10:47.

Ruby Peterson finished second in the girls’ 100 meter dash (13.43), Gabe Swedenburg was second in the boys’ 100 meter dash (11.44), Matthew Knutson was second in the boys’ high jump (5’ 6) and the 4x200 meter relay team of Holzner, Retzlaff, Berge and Fiskness was also runner-up (10:47).

Drew Fischer was third in the 200 meter dash (23.46).

Hillcrest heads to Wahpeton Thursday to compete in the Anderson-Schuler Invitational.
