“Tough one tonight at LPA,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin. “A veritable war of attrition. We didn’t have a lot of rhythm on the offensive end for much of the game and I think it was largely due to our lack of patience and ball reversals. We had opportunities down the stretch, but just didn’t convert.”
Noah Brumfield had a team high 16 points, to go along with 3 rebounds. Luke Christensen finished with 11 points and Justin Petersen had 9 points. Matthew Knutson led the team with 6 rebounds.
“I think the rebounding numbers might end up being pretty even, but I think we got outworked on the glass,” said Coach Garvin. “We didn’t commit to the 50/50 balls and that might say something about our lack of a sense of urgency. We have some work to do in that area and it starts with me making sure they are held accountable to that expectation. That’s something we talked about after the game.”
Hillcrest (18-6, 12-3 LEC) will play Border West (20-2, 13-0 LEC) in a Little Eight Conference battle at 2:30pm Saturday in Wheaton.
