The Hillcrest boys’ basketball team beat Frazee 72-54 on Wednesday afternoon at the Lions Invitational, hosted by Legacy Christian Academy.  The Comets had a 40-19 lead at halftime.

“It was our defense that got our offense going,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin.  “We forced Frazee into 23 turnovers and had five guys with at least three steals, including Zayne Weinrich who tallied four, all within a 3 or 4 minute stretch in the first half.”

Sam Brumfield led Hillcrest with 22 points.  Noah Brumfield had 13, Luke Christensen 11 and Caden Fischer 11.  The Comets had 20 assists as a team.

“The assist number is a season high and speaks to our unselfishly finding the open man,” noted Coach Garvin.  “We’ll have to equally as good or better on both ends of the floor as we take on Legacy Christian Academy who beat Park Christian 95-68 behind Aiden Johnson’s 41 points, 21 rebound performance.”

Hillcrest improved to 3-2 with the win.
