The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team put together two solid halves of basketball as they traveled to East Grand Forks where they recorded a 61-29 win over Sacred Heart on Tuesday night.

“Tonight’s game was a great team effort,” commented Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “Everyone contributed on both ends of the floor and we played with a lot of energy and intensity.  It was a great win for our girls after being off for six days.”

The Comets were led by Madi Ballweg (20 points, 7 rebounds) and Ella Knutson (11 points, 7 rebounds).  Madi Foss added 9 points and 4 assists, while Ruby Peterson contributed 9 points and 5 steals.  Regan Wiertzema had 5 blocks in the game and finished with 6 points, and Alivia Holmquist wound up with 4 points, 4 steals and a team high 11 rebounds.

“Our defensive pressure allowed us to get some easy buckets,” noted Coach Clark.  “We rebounded extremely well, especially on the offensive end, giving us multiple shots at the basket each possession.”

Hillcrest (3-3) will play their fourth straight road game when the travel to Herman for a game against Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Friday, January 7.
