The Underwood girls’ basketball team survived their worst shooting night of the season on Thursday night, defeating the Breckenridge Cowgirls 46-44 despite hitting just 33% (17-51) of their field goal attempts in the game.  The Rockets led 28-19 at the half.

“We did not shoot the ball well and Breckenridge did a good job defensively, taking away what we do best,” commented Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “I was proud of how we dug in on the defensive end.  I’m a true believer you can have off nights on the offensive end, but that should never happen defensively.”

Liz Lukken led Underwood with 17 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.  Mo Bugbee finished 13 points and 4 rebounds, Kallyn Grove had 8 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists, and Ezrah Baker contributed 4 points, 3 assists and 4 steals.

No Breckenridge information was reported.

Underwood takes their 6-0 record to Ada on Tuesday night for a matchup with Ada Borup West.

Breckenridge (2-4) will go to Glenwood on Saturday afternoon to face Minnewaska Area.
