The Hillcrest girls’ basketball team buried ten 3’s on Thursday night as five different girls contributed points from beyond the arc in a 60-39 Comet victory over the Rothsay Tigers.

“Offensively, we shot the ball really well,” stated Head Coach Hannah Clark of Hillcrest.  “Our offensive chemistry is really starting to click and we have unselfish players looking to get everyone involved.  Madi Ballweg (18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals) and Ruby Peterson (6 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists) both had nice all around games on both ends of the floor.”

Ella Knutson (12 points, 8 rebounds), Regan Wiertzema (10 points, 6 rebounds), Alivia Holmquist (6 points) and Madi Foss (6 points, 5 steals) also contributed to the win.

“The girls came out ready to play,” said Coach Clark.  “Once again, our defense got us going early in the game.”

Savannah Sullivan had 19 points to lead the Tigers.  Kenadi Carlsrud (9 points, 7 rebounds) and Summer Wigdahl (5 points, 5 rebounds) also contributed.

“We got down early as we struggled against Hillcrest’s full court pressure,” reported Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “Our young guards are working hard and learning tons every time we step on the floor.  We will continue to improve as the season goes on.  I’m proud of my girls for playing hard to the end.”

Hillcrest (2-2) will play at Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night.

Rothsay (0-4) travels to Henning next Thursday night.
