Hancock Track and Field Season Ends at Section Meet

The Hancock Owls track and field season wrapped up on Thursday at the Section meet in Montevideo.  The Owls didn’t have any state qualifiers, but they had four medal winners as Jackson Koehl took fourth in the high jump (6’ 0”), Jared Koehl took fifth in the triple jump with a season best of 40-feet-1-inch, Misti Zempel was sixth in the shot put with a PR of 33-feet-4-inches and Kaylee Wink was eighth in the 3200 meter run.  Also hitting season best marks were the girls 4x800 (11:01.09) team of Abby Nuest, Tabitha Bjerketvedt, Vivian Messner and Kaylynn Christianson finishing in 9th place, and Messner in the 800 meter run (2:40.73).

Owls Qualify 20 Athletes for Section 3A Track and Field Meet

The Hancock Owls had twenty athletes advance from North Sub-Section competition in Benson on Thursday to the Section 3A meet on Thursday, June 1 at Montevideo.  “I thought we had a good number of qualifiers last year when we had 9 athletes advancing, and this year the kids took that to another level,” said Hancock Head Coach Kalee Nuest.  “Despite the wind, which never let up, we were still able to pull n some season bests and even a few PR’s.”

Little 8 Conference Track and Field Meet Results

Border West came out on top in both the boys’ and girls’ team competition at the Little 8 Conference Track and Field Meet on Tuesday in Wheaton.  The Buccaneers won the girls’ event with 185 points and the boys’ event with 189.
