The Hancock track and field teams competed at New London-Spicer with 13 other teams on Thursday.  “This is the biggest regular season meet I've ever coached,” said Owls Head Coach Kalee Nuest.  “The competition was awesome, and the athletes performed really well.  Lots of season bests and personal records!”

Jackson Koel took first in high jump out of 23 total jumpers.  Other top 8 finishers bringing in team points included Jackson in the 200, Jared Koehl in the 800, Kaylee Wink in the 1600 and 3200, the boys 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800 relay, the girls 4x800 relay, and Misti Zempel in shot put and triple jump.

“We moved up a few junior high athletes, and I couldn't have asked for better performances or better attitudes,” noted CoachNuest.  “They stepped up in a big way, especially Jett Nuest in the 4x400 and 4x800, Giana Feuchtenberger in her first 300 hurdles race, and Rebeka Bulman, Taiah Minnick, and Margaret Bretz in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays.”

Kaylee Wink had huge PRs in both long distance races.  “That is a huge accomplishment,” said Nuest.  “She'll be a top contender at our conference meet in both races.  Jared Koehl booked it in his first leg of the 4x800, and we are just starting to see him tap into his potential.  Every single boys relay significantly improved their time. As I was updating results and season bests, I noticed that Vivian Messner has run nearly every race this season, and has competed well at each distance!  It's really fun to have such a well-rounded, talented athlete.”
