Dylan Bainbridge (22 points) and Clint Determan (20 points) provided a powerful one-two punch for the Border West boys’ basketball team on Friday night as they combined for 42 points to lead the Buccaneers to the Section 6A championship with a 65-51 victory over the Henning Hornets at the Otter Fieldhouse in Fergus Falls.
The Henning boys’ basketball team got off to a fast start in the second half as they opened up a double digit lead at 33-22 three minutes into the half after leading 23-20 at halftime. They increased their lead to 47-32 and went on to post a 59-45 win over Battle Lake on Wednesday in the Section 6A North sub-section title game. The win moves Henning into the Friday night section championship game opposite Border West. The game will be at 7:00pm at the Otter Field house in Fergus Falls with the winner going to the Class A State Tournament.
The Henning Hornets continued their outstanding season with a 68-54 win over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Monday night at 'The Hive' in Perham. The win puts the Hornets at 27-1 and send them into the Section 6A North Sub-Section championship game against Battle Lake on Wednesday night at 7:00pm at the Kennedy Secondary School in Fergus Falls.
