The season came to an end for the New York Mills boys’ basketball team on Wednesday night as they suffered a 75-72 loss to unbeaten, top-seeded Mahnomen-Waubun in the Section 6A semifinals. The Eagles fell behind by as many as 14 points in the first half and trailed 45-36 at halftime, however, they battled back to take a six point lead with four minutes to go in the game, but could not hold it.
The two-time defending champion Henning boys’ basketball team was eliminated from the Section 6A Tournament on Saturday as they fell to the New York Mills Eagles by the score of 71-44. The Hornets hung around for the first half, trailing by just 3, 29-26, at the break, however, second half turnovers hurt them as the Eagles put up 42 points over the final 18 minutes of play.
Tyson Misegades scored 24 of his game high 27 points in the first half on Thursday night as the Henning Hornets built a 30-17 halftime lead on the way to a 62-40 victory over Lake Park-Audubon in a Section 6A play-in game at Henning.
