The Barnesville Trojans continued their hot start by beating Rothsay 82-53 on Monday night. The Trojans built a 49-28 halftime lead over the Tigers.

Kellen Hinsz tallied a game high 23 points on 5 three point shots, adding 5 steals, 5 assists and 3 rebounds, with Adam Tonsfeldt netting 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists as 10 players got into the scorebook.

“We had a slow start to the game before we changed up our defense and ended the half on a 37-11 run,” said Barnesville Assistant Coach Tracy Hinsz. “Kellen Hinsz and Adam Tonsfeldt led the team in scoring and assists, but the entire team was instrumental on both ends of the court.  Grant Inniger (8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist) had a very good game as did Hunter Zenzen (9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals), Jason Henrickson (7 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists), Kaden Zenzen (6 points, 3-3 FG), Sam Askegaard (3 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist) and Brooks Martinson (5 assists, 2 steals). They are playing excellent team basketball and bringing high energy on the floor.”

Barnesville shot 49% (28-57) from the floor, while Rothsay made 35% (19-53) of their shots. Both teams had 35 rebounds, but Rothsay turned the ball over 25 times, leading to 22 Barnesville points. The Trojans also had 24 points off the bench.

Rothsay was led by Parker Keep with 12 points and 9 rebounds.  Tanner Tollerud contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds for the Tigers.

Barnesville (2-0, 1-0 HOL) will host Wadena-Deer Creek on Friday night, while Rothsay (0-4) will play a Little Eight Conference contest in Ashby on Thursday night.
