The Brandon-Evansville boys basketball team hosted Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in a Little Eight Conference contest in Evansville on Tuesday night. Both teams played with very good intensity and the Chargers came out on top with a 56-51 win.

Tanner Bitzan led the Chargers as he recorded a double-double (14 points, 14 rebounds) and added 3 assists and 3 steals.  Sam Fuller scored 14 points and had 7 rebounds and Marshall Riedel added 13 points.  B-E hit 37% (18-48) of their field goal attempts, making 8-of-24 (33%) three-pointers.

"We had some guys really step up tonight and play their role as best they could," stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister.  "Sam Fuller played his best game of the young season.  Tanner Bitzan was a force in the paint as he guarded, rebounded and made some big time free throws when it mattered most. Keagan Schiele's stat line might not show it, but he did a lot of good things for us.  Marshall Riedel continued shooting the ball well and Jesse Perleberg and Eli Anderson did the things we need them to do to be successful.  Andrew JohnsonTitus Fuller and Tony Schaffran came in and played some very meaningful minutes for us as well.  Once again our depth really helped us as eleven different players saw playing time."

“We fought back to take a 5 point lead with a few minutes left but B-E finished the game by crashing the offensive glass, hitting big shots and free throws, and taking better care of the ball than we did,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Gregg Preston. “The Chargers 8 three-point field goals, aggressiveness on the boards, and solid half-court defense was the difference tonight.”

Sander Frustol led the Comets with 18 points and was the only Comet in double figures.
