The West Central Area Knights boys golfers shot a 318 on a blustery day to win their home meet which was their first meet of the year.  Hillcrest finished second at 347 followed by Underwood 350, Pillager 355, OTC 358, Border West 360, LPGE-Browerville 392, Rothsay 399, and Ashby-Brandon-Evansville 416.

The Knights Marshall Dewey and Mitch Dewey both fired 74's with Marshall winning the medalist in a scorecard playoff and Mitch taking second. There was a 4-way tie for 3rd all shooting 78's. ABE's Traeton Nelson won the scorecard playoff taking 3rd, OTC's Logan Kostelecky 4th, Border West's Nolan Wilson 5th and Hillcrest's Thor Ewan taking 6th.

Knights Coach Kraig Hunter said, "There were some pretty good scores from many players in our conference on a day when winds were consistent at 18-20 mph."

"Mitch Dewey hit his first ball of the day out of bounds to start 2-over on his first hole and he was just steady the rest of the day shooting a 74 and he probably doesn't feel he played his best.  Marshall was 7-over after 10 and birdied numbers 7,8,9 in a row to finish strong.  Pretty good mental fortitude by both of them."

"Sam Hanson and Ben Bye tied for 8th place both with 85's. Sam had a couple of bad breaks and a string of three straight doubles in the middle of his round, but as usual kept his positive attitude and finished with a birdie on 9. He will shoot a lot of good scores for us this year. We are so pleased with Ben, he played in his first varsity meet and took 8th place out of 54 golfers.  He hit the ball really well and also played with a good attitude all day."

"Rounding out our scoring were Cam Anderson with an 88 (16th place) and Bryce Kjesbo with an 89 (20th)," added Hunter.  "Cam played some stretches of really good golf and has the game to post some birdies. Bryce also played in his first varsity meet and I was so impressed. Not only hits the ball well, but scrambled well with his short game. He had a great par on hole 17 going from a drive behind the shed to nearly on the road, punching under trees to get on the green and save par.  I believe Ben, Cam and Bryce will all be shooting some great scores by mid season along with Mitch, Marshall and Sam which will help us to post a solid 4th score. Real pleased with what I saw for our first meet in our play and our attitude."
