The Hillcrest boys’ basketball team was led by 30 points from Luke Christensen and 15 from Noah Brumfield in their 70-47 victory over the Rothsay Tigers on Thursday night.  Brumfield also had a team high 9 rebounds on the night, while Christensen secured 5 boards.

Rothsay was led by Matt Danielson with 17, Preston Curtis with 10 and Karson Jensen with 9.

“Coach Jacobson had his boys ready to go tonight,” noted Hillcrest Head Coach Ryan Garvin.  “They came out with a lot of energy and a dangerous nothing-to-lose attitude.  It took us a while to settle in.  Rothsay hit six three-pointers in the first half, four of them by Matt Danielson, who had 16 first half points, and we just did a poor job getting all the way out.  Our boys made the right adjustment and we were able to finish on a nice 10-0 run in the first half behind some much better team defense.”

Garvin continued, “Sean Berge had a big game for us tonight, hitting a couple of big threes, finishing at the rim, and finding Luke, Noah and Ethan Swedberg for some finishes at the rim.  He also did a great job of screening us into our offense.”

Hillcrest (23-4) will now have a tough matchup with Ada-Borup/West (22-5) on Saturday at 2:45pm at the ‘Hive’ in Perham.
