Hillcrest led 37-18 at the half and went on to record a 63-39 Section 6A Playoff win over Rothsay on Thursday night in Fergus Falls.  “Good team effort tonight,” noted Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “The girls shared the ball and we were very balanced in our scoring.”  Ruby Peterson led four players in double figures, scoring 16 points.  She also had 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals.

Kate Olstad (15 points, 9 rebounds), Elsa Retzlaff (13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals) and Ella Knutson (10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists) were all in double figures.  Aaveah Stender contributed 6 points and 5 rebounds.

“Ruby and Elsa shot the ball well from the 3-point line, scoring 16 and 13, respectively,” said Coach Clark  “They also dished out 4 assists apiece and each came up with 6 steals.  Kate had a great game.  She played with so much confidence and did a nice job attacking the basket.”

"Hillcrest is a good team with so many weapons," acknowledged Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier. "They shot the ball well tonight and we struggled to put the ball in the basket.  This loss doesn’t take away from the fun season we had this year. It was a pleasure coaching such a great group of girls. Our seniors, Kinsey Heier and Elli Meyer have been great leaders for us this year and that was no different tonight. They played hard and left everything on the court tonight. They will surely be missed next year."

The Comets (21-6) will play Underwood (24-3) at 2:45pm Saturday at the Hive in Perham.
