Wadena-Deer Creek could not hold a 20-14 halftime lead on Thursday night as Park Rapids Area put together a 34 point second half to record a 48-44 victory over the Wolverines in the Section 8AAA girls’ basketball playoffs.  Halle Eischens led 3 Panthers in double figures with points.  Vivian Shepersky and Nora Cederstrom added 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Peyton Gravelle was the lone player in double figures for the Wolverines, scoring 12 points, including a pair of 3’s.  Addy Gravelle connected on a trio of 3-point shots, finishing with 9 points.

“Tough loss to end the season on tonight in Park Rapids,” commented WDC Head Coach Jordan Cresap. “Thought we played a good first half then hit an offensive lull to start the second half. Just didn’t quite have an answer to their physicality. Made a couple of runs in the second half but just couldn’t get over the hump.  Shoutout to our lone senior, Lola Pulver, for all of her contributions to the team this year. We are grateful for her efforts and really appreciated her team first attitude. She hadn’t played basketball in a couple years, but she took things in stride and was a huge boost for us. Looking forward to seeing her future successes!”

Wadena-Deer Creek ends their season with a record of 15-12 and a Park Region Conference mark of 11-3.
