Otter Boys Bounce Back with Win at Wahpeton

The Fergus Falls boys’ basketball team bounced back from a tough road loss to St. Cloud Tech on Monday night to defeat Wahpeton 52-45 on Tuesday afternoon.  The win improves the Otters season record to 12-13 with one regular season game remaining on their schedule.

 

 

Ryan Hirst (14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 blocked shots) registered a double-double and Henry Bethel scored a game high 19 points, including four 3’s, to lead the Otters to the victory.  Alex Ellison (9 points, 4 rebounds), Levi King (4 points, 6 rebounds) and Micah Johnson (3 assists) all contributed to the win.

Fergus Falls led 26-23 at the half, increased their lead to 9 points in the second half, saw Wahpeton cut it to 2 points and the re-established a 9-point lead with a 7-point run to end the third quarter.  The Otters were out-rebounded 31-29 in the game.

Wahpeton was led by Braden Steffens (17 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) and Jaden King (12 points, 10 rebounds).

Fergus Falls will host Willmar at the Roosevelt Gym on Friday night.  The 1984 state tournament team will be honored that night on the 40th anniversary of their tournament appearance.
