Recent Central Lakes Conference News

The seeding results have been announced and the pairings for the state boys’ basketball quarterfinal round tournament games have been released.  The West Central Area Knights received the number two seed in Class A and will open play on Thursday, March 21, against Heritage Christian Academy at Target Center at 3:00pm.  Pelican Rapids did not receive a top five seed and will face third-seeded Lake City as the result of a random draw, on Wednesday, March 20, at 8:00pm at Target Center.

Pelican Rapids will be taking sign up for fan buses to their state tournament games.  Wednesday the fan bus will leave at 3:00pm from Chauncey Martin Field Parking Lot.  Cost is $20.  Elementary students must be accompanied by an adult.  Fans can sign up at the Elementary or High School office or online at Pelican Rapids School District 548 / Homepage

 

Chase Thompson scored 31 of his game high 37 points in the first half as the Alexandria boys’ basketball team built a commanding 54-17 halftime advantage over the Fergus Falls Otters.  The Cardinals went on to post an 89-49 victory over the Otters, advancing to the Section 8AAA championship game against St. Cloud Tech.  Tech moved on with a 76-70 win over Detroit Lakes in the other semifinal contest.

 

Bethel Shines in 68-66 Otter Win Over Rocori

Henry Bethel came up with two crucial blocks in the final moments of the Fergus Falls Otters 68-66 victory over Rocori in their Section 8AAA quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday night at the Otter Fieldhouse.  Bethel also led the team with 27 points and 4 assists, while securing 9 rebounds on the night.  Ryan Hirst added a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, Alex Ellison contributed 9 points and 6 boards, and Levi King came through with 8 points and 9 rebounds.
