“It was a tale of two halves,” said Hillcrest girls’ basketball coach Hannah Clark. “We struggled to contain a drive the first half and we let Lake Park-Audubon get easy looks at the rim. We did a much better job in the second half, stepping in front of their offensive players and getting stops on D.” The outcome was favorable for the Comets as they posted a 63-41 victory over LPA.
Ruby Peterson (26 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals), Elsa Retzlaff (12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals), Ella Knutson (8 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals) and Kate Olstad (7 points, 8 rebounds) were the leaders for Hillcrest.
“Ruby had great game for us, and Kate hit some big shots down the stretch and also brought a toughness to the team that was much needed down in the paint,” said Coach Clark.
Hillcrest Lutheran Academy (19-6, 14-4 LEC) has won game remaining on their regular season schedule. It takes place on their home court Thursday against Breckenridge.
