Liz Lukken scored 21 of her game high 32 points in the first half as the Underwood Rockets built a commanding 40-16 halftime lead Tuesday night and went on to record a 71-37 victory over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.  The Rockets are now 19-3 overall and 15-2 against Little Eight Conference opponents.

The Rockets had great balance through the rest of the lineup as Kallyn Grove and Emma Dirkman scored 8 points apiece, and Mily Albjerg, Ezrah Baker and Lauren Hexum each contributed 6 points.

“The team did an excellent job of executing the game plan defensively,” commented Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.

Ella Knutson led Hillcrest with 15 points and 7 rebounds.  Aaveah Stender added 8 points, Elsa Retzlaff had 5 points and 5 rebounds, and Kate Olstad had a team high 8 boards.

“The girls came out flat and Underwood took an early advantage and never looked back,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “I thought we played complacent on both ends of the floor with no sense of urgency. We will learn from this one and get back in the gym to prepare for our 2 other games this week.”

Hillcrest (16-6, 12-4 LEC) will play at Battle Lake on Thursday and at Brandon-Evansville on Friday.  The loss snapped their six game winning streak.

Underwood will host Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Thursday for their final Little Eight Conference game and will travel to Breckenridge on Friday night to face a non-conference opponent.
