Rothsay Girls Defeat Bertha-Hewitt Behind Strong 2nd Half

The Rothsay girls’ basketball team put together a solid 36 minutes of basketball on Friday night as they were able to outscore Bertha-Hewitt 32-23 in the second half to record a 62-53 victory after the game had been tied 30-30 at the half.  “It was good to see our girls hang on and win a close game tonight,” said Head Coach Anita Heier of the Tigers.  “We had some key contributions from our bench with several starters in foul trouble.  It was great to see them step up and contribute in the win.”

 

Savannah Sullivan (21 points, 5 rebounds), McKenzie Tillman (10 points, 8 rebounds), Mia Rivers (6 points, 8 rebounds) and Elli Meyer (6 points, 5 rebounds) were the leaders for the Tigers.

Rothsay (12-10, 8-8 LEC) snapped a 6 game losing streak with the victory.  The Tigers will Host 3 games next week with Lake Park-Audubon coming in on Monday, Parkers Prairie on Tuesday and Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Thursday.

Bertha-Hewitt (10-11, 3-9 PRC) has a home game Tuesday against New York Mills, pays a visit to Upsala on Thursday and plays at Henning on Friday of next week.
