Elsa Retzlaff (7 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals) and Ella Knutson (9 rebounds, 5 steals) scored 16 points apiece to lead Hillcrest Lutheran Academy to a 48-39 victory over Lidgerwood/Wyndmere on Saturday afternoon at NDSCS in Wahpeton.  “We were a step slow on both ends of the floor today, but found a way to walk away with the ‘W’,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “I’m happy with how hard they worked, even when things weren’t necessarily clicking like they usually do.”

The Comets also received contributions from Emme Berge (8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals), Ruby Peterson (5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 8 steals), Kate Olstad (2 points, 6 rebounds) and Aaveah Stender (1 point, 3 rebounds).

“Elsa and Ella led the offensive effort,” said Clark.  “We only made two 3-pointers with both of them coming from Emme Berge in times when we really needed a basket.  Ruby Peterson had another great game defensively, putting pressure on their guards and really disrupting their offense.  She had some really big steals and deflections in the second half that helped us pull away from the other team.”

Hillcrest (14-5, 10-3 LEC) will take a four game winning streak into their Tuesday game at Parkers Prairie.
