Hillcrest Lutheran Academy traveled to Wheaton for a Little Eight contest on Tuesday and the Comets were able to bring home a 65-41 victory over the Warriors.  “We got out to a quick start and then fill into a lull to end the first half,” noted Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “We addressed some things at halftime and the girls came out in the second half and played with a lot of intensity, creating lots of high percentage scoring opportunities.”

Ella Knutson (23 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals) and Elsa Retzlaff (21 points, 2 rebounds) continue to provide a potent 1-2 punch, offensively.  Ruby Peterson turned in another solid all-around effort with 11 points, 8 steals and 7 assists.  Avaeah Stender (7 points, 4 rebounds), Kate Olstad (3 points, 9 rebounds) and Emme Berge (4 rebounds) also contributed to the win.

“Ella and Elsa led us in scoring and continue to attack the hoop with confidence,” noted Clark.  “Ruby played a great game for us.  She does such a nice job knowing when to take the shot and when to pass it off to an open teammate.  On defense, she is so disruptive and makes it hard for anyone to feel real comfortable with the ball.”

Jordyn Perry scored 19 and had 3 steals to lead Wheaton/Herman-Norcross.  Claire Rinke grabbed a team high 7 rebounds and Sadie Vipond dished out 3 assists.

Hillcrest (12-5, 9-3 LEC) will host CGB on Thursday and will play Wyndmere-Lidgerwood at 12:30pm Saturday at NDSCS in Wahpeton.

Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (7-12, 4-8 LEC) will play at Ashby on Thursday night.
