Hillcrest hosted Hancock in a Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball contest on Friday night and the Owls remained unbeaten in LEC play with a 78-58 win over the Comets.  “We knew coming into tonight that we’d have to play a really clean game to give ourselves a chance and we weren’t able to do that,” stated Head Coach Hannah Clark of Hillcrest.  “Hancock plays a very aggressive defense and they forced us into multiple turnovers and rushed shots.”

Elsa Retzlaff (19 points, 4 rebounds), Ruby Peterson (16 points, 8-8 FT, 6 steals) and Kate Olstad (10 points, 9 rebounds) all finished in double figures for the Comets.  Ella Knutson contributed 9 points and 7 rebounds, and Aaveah Stender chipped in with 4 points.

Hillcrest (10-5, 7-3 LEC) has a home game Thursday against Ashby.

Hancock (14-1, 10-0 LEC) has won 7 in a row heading into a road game with CGB on Tuesday.
