Ella Knutson reached 1000 career points on Saturday in the Hillcrest Comets 66-51 win over Park Christian School in Moorhead.  Knutson had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 6 steals on the day.  Elsa Retzlaff led Hillcrest with 24 points and added 5 steals.  “Congratulations to Ella,” said Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “She is such a hard worker and has spent countless hours in the gym.  She’s a great basketball player, a great teammate, and a wonderful person!  I’m so proud of her and all that she has accomplished thus far in her career.”

Kate Olstad (7 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists), Ruby Peterson (6 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals), Aaveah Stender (4 points) and Emme Berge (4 rebounds, 4 assists) all contributed to the victory.

“The girls came out with a ton of fire power,” noted Coach Clark.  “They took control of the game early and never looked back.  Elsa had a tremendous game, offensively.  She looked so comfortable getting to the rim and finishing with contact.  Ella and Ruby had nice all around games.  They really disrupted Park’s offense and made it difficult for them to get any easy looks.  Kate continues to be a work horse on the boards.  Her toughness is such a big asset to the team.”

Avery Aakre led the Falcons with 15 points.  The loss was only the second in 13 games for Park Christian.

Hillcrest (9-4, 6-2 LEC) has home games coming up on Tuesday against Battle Lake and on Friday with Hancock.
