Hillcrest Lutheran Academy hosted Parkers Prairie in a Little Eight Conference girls’ basketball contest on Friday.  The Comet were able to come away with a 67-51 victory over the Panthers.  “This was a fun win at home,” said Hillcrest Head coach Hannah Clark.  “The girls came out and played hard and aggressive, and they were able to carry that play throughout the game.”

The Comets were led by Ella Knutson (35 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals), Kate Olstad (13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals), Elsa Retzlaff (11 points), Emma Berge (6 points, 5 rebounds), Aaveah Stender (6 rebounds) and Ruby Peterson (5 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals).

“Ella had another big game tonight,” acknowledged Coach Clark.  “She’s done a really nice job of mixing up how she scores and it makes her a tough matchup for a lot of teams.  Kate had some great finishes around the rim tonight.  She works so hard and it was fun to see the ball through the net.  We still need to do a better job of taking care of the ball on offense, but overall I was pleased with how the team played.”

Evy Grinager scored a team high 26 for the Panthers and was followed by Johahna McKeown, who added 8 points.

“Credit to Hillcrest as they have a very skilled and athletic team,” said Parkers Prairie Head Coach Hunter Haggenmiller.  “Ella Knutson had another fantastic game for the Comets and she was a tough matchup for us, keeping the game just out of reach, especially down the stretch.  Our girls’ continued to battle and again saw a lot of good things, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.”

Parkers Prairie will play their tenth consecutive road game on Tuesday when they travel to Graceville to play Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.

Hillcrest (7-3) will play another Little Eight Conference game on Tuesday in Rothsay.
