Ella Knutson had another huge night for the Hillcrest girls’ basketball team, pouring in a team record 35 points and securing 14 rebounds as the Comets posted a 57-53 road win over Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal in Twin Valley on Tuesday night.  Elsa Retzlaff added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals for the visiting Comets.

Other contributions came from Ruby Peterson (5 points, 5 steals, 4 assists), Kate Olstad (2 points, 11 rebounds) and Aaveah Stender (2 points).

“We came out flat and never could get any sort of fire under us,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “Credit to the Titans, they came out ready to play. We made just enough plays to secure the W, but we have to find a way to come ready to play every single night.  It was a great night for Ella Knutson, registering a double-double. Offensively, she put the team on her back and willed us to a win, scoring 35, breaking the single game record previously held by Mackenzie Foss at 33. It was great to have Kate Olstad back. Her rebounding and toughness around the rim is such an asset to the team.”

Brenna Olson led the Titans with 14 points.

Hillcrest (6-3) will host Parkers Prairie as they return to Little Eight Conference play on Friday night.
