Hillcrest traveled to East Grand Forks for the Sacred Heart Holiday girls’ basketball tournament and fell to the home team 76-72.  Lexi Lawrence poured in 33 points to lead the way for the Eagles.  “We struggled to rebound the basketball and we found ourselves in early foul trouble,” said Head Coach Hannah Clark of the Comets. “We did a better job in the second half protecting the basket, but credit to Sacred Heart they hit some big shots and made free throws down the stretch.”

Ella Knutson (29 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 blocks), Elsa Retzlaff (20 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists) and Ruby Peterson (12 points, 5 steals, 4 assists) all reached double figures for the Comets.

“Ella Knutson led the way on the offensive end,” stated Coach Clark. “Elsa played really well on both ends of the floor. It was great to have Ruby Peterson back and I loved how aggressive she played on offense.”

The loss ended a 4 game winning streak for Hillcrest (4-3).  They will play again on Friday.
