Elsa Retzlaff made 7-of-11 3-point field goal attempts, scoring 29 points, and Ella Knutson registered another double-double (23 points, 10 rebounds) to lead the Hillcrest girls’ basketball team to a 71-54 home court victory over Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Friday night.  “Elsa and Ella had great nights, leading us on the offensive end,” said Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “Elsa shot the ball extremely well and Ella was once again a force around the basket.”

Kate Olstad (4 points, 13 rebounds), Aaveah Stender (8 points), Ruby Peterson (3 points), Brooke Swedberg (2 points, 4 assists) and Emma Berge (2 points) also contributed for the Comets.

“Kate played a great game for us,” noted Coach Clark.  “She was strong on the boards and she also came up with so many loose balls and tie-ups.  Aaveah did a great job timing her post seals and is really starting to come along at her position.”

Julia Schmidt scored 18 points to lead the Warriors.

“Our offense is really starting to come together,” added Clark.  “We are moving the ball much better than we have in previous games and the girls are becoming more and more confident each night.  Our defense provided a nice spark for us and I think it will continue to be what drives our intensity and energy throughout the season.”

Hillcrest (3-2) is on a 3 game winning streak.  They will close their pre-Christmas schedule in Graceville on Tuesday night when they face Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.
