Wadena-Deer Creek won an overtime battle with Bertha-Hewitt on Thursday night, posting a 54-48 victory over the Bears in Bertha. “Tough battle tonight,” said Head Coach Jordan Cresap of WDC. “Credit Bertha’s physical defense for disrupting our offensive rhythm. Ashley Pavek was huge in the overtime period, hitting two three’s. Needed to get some big rebounds down the stretch and we did.”
Montana Carston led the Wolverines with 17 points and Addy Gravelle joined her in double digits with 13. Pavek finished with 9 points, as did Payton Gravelle.
Bertha-Hewitt was led by 17 points from Carissa Winscher and 12 from Jorja Weishalla.
The Bears (1-4) will participate in the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Wadena-Deer Creek (4-2) has a home game with Hawley on Tuesday night.
