The Wadena-Deer Creek girls’ basketball team hosted New York Mills on Friday night. The Wolverines led 29-15 at the half and ended up winning by the score of 51-34. “Solid effort tonight against a physical New York Mills team,” said Head Coach Jordan Cresap of the Wolverines. “We knew we needed to rebound well tonight and I thought we did that. We got sloppy with the ball in the second half and need to improve our decision making against zones. Addy Gravelle was a big time spark tonight with seven threes!”
Gravelle led all scorers with 27 points. As a team, the Wolverines made 10 3’s in the game. Ashley Pavek scored 9 points.
Ayla Olson led New York Mills with 15 points, 10 of them coming in the second half.
Wadena-Deer Creek improved to 3-1 with the victory. They will travel to play Crosby-Ironton on Tuesday night.
The Eagles (1-4) will host Menahga on Thursday, December 14.
