Hannah Clark begins her seventh season leading the Hillcrest girls’ basketball team.  Her Comets were 18-10 a year ago and finished 11-6 in the Little Eight Conference.  Three seniors were lost to graduation, including Madi Foss and Maddie Ballweg, who are both playing at M State in Fergus Falls, and Lizzy Olstad.

Returning starters are Ruby Peterson (JR, Guard) and Ella Knutson (SO, Forward).  Other returning letter winners are eighth-grade guards Elsa Retzlaff and Stella Moline.

Clark will also be looking to junior Kate Olstad (Forward) and eighth-graders Emme Berge (Guard) and Aaveah Stender (Forward) to claim varsity minutes.

“We are going to be young this year, but have a group of girls who have put in lots of hours at the gym and are ready to get better every day,” said Coach Clark.  “We will be long and athletic with multiple players who can score at all levels.”

Clark will be assisted by Ryan Retzlaff, Emily Frustol and Reese Ellison.

Coach Clark sees Breckenridge, Underwood and Hancock as the top teams in Section 6A, with Hancock, Brandon-Evansville and Underwood her picks as top teams in the LEC.
