Liz Lukken registered 13 kills and the Underwood volleyball team put together a solid night on the court in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-15) sweep of the Hillcrest Comets.  With the victory, Underwood claims the Section 6A North Sub-Section championship and qualifies for the Section 6A title match on Saturday at 7:00pm against the West Central Area Knights.  The match will be played at the Kennedy Secondary School in Fergus Falls.

“As we close out the 2023 season, we have to stay EYES UP and celebrate the entire season,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Debi Foss. “While the playoff game clearly didn’t go quite as we had anticipated, we still have a lot of growth to celebrate. We struggled to get something consistent going the entire match. We had tons of unforced errors, dropped balls, miss reads, and just didn’t play like we normally do. While I’ll continue to replay the night in my mind and figure out why we struggled so much and what we should have done differently, I will also remind myself to take a step back and look at the BIG PICTURE. Our season had ups and downs, fantastic wins, tight losses, injuries, personal bests, and a lot of competitive battles. The good news is that we are young and I’m hoping that a year from now, the outcome will look different.”

Foss concluded with, “Thank you TEAM for an amazing season. Thank you Assistant COACHES for your commitment to our program and for constantly strategizing with me. Thank you PARENTS for your support and encouragement and for raising these amazing young ladies. Thank you girls for pushing to grow as individuals and as a team. EYES UP to Jesus! EYES UP to each other! EYES UP to the game of Volleyball!”
