The Fergus Falls Otters took a 12-0 halftime lead, but they couldn’t hold it as Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta scored 15 straight second half points to eliminate the Otters 15-12 in the Section 8AAA quarterfinals at Big Cat Stadium on the campus of UM-Morris Tuesday night.  The Tigers held the Otters to just 32 yards in the second half to aid in their comeback victory.

Fergus Falls went on a 69 yard scoring drive and punched the ball into the end zone on a 4 yard run by Griffin Babolian with 3:17 left in the opening quarter, taking a 6-0 lead.

A Carston Fronning sack was an early defensive highlight for the Otters, who took a 12-0 lead on a 4-yard run by Henry Bethel.  The score was setup by a 40 yard pass from Bethel to Isaiah Holmes on a third and long play during the drive.

In the third quarter, MACA QB Drew Huebner scored on a one yard run and Riley Saito made it 12-7 with the extra point kick.

A blocked punt gave the Tigers the football inside the red zone but the Otters came up with a big 4th and goal stop.  Following an interception, Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta took the lead with 1:10 on the clock when Owen Anderson carried the ball over the goal line from 3 yards out.  A successful 2-point conversion put the final score at 15-12.

Anderson had a big game with 132 yards on 28 carries.  The Tigers finished with 195 yards of offense, all of it coming by the run.

Fergus Falls had 246 total yards, 67 on the ground, and 179 through the air.  Bethel completed 18-of-29 throws.  Top receivers were Fronning (5 catches, 40 yards), Kellen Stenstrom (4 catches, 34 yards), Holmes (3 catches, 56 yards) and Levi King (3 catches, 37 yards).  Babolian led the ground attack with 32 yards on 11 carries, while Bethel ran for 19 yards on 8 attempts.

Fergus Falls (2-7) ends their season with the loss.  Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta will now face second-seeded Perham on Saturday at 2:00pm.
