The A-B-E Invite Cross Country meet was held Tuesday at Pine Ridge Golf Course. “It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a run which made it a faster race,” reported Bolts Head Coach Robert Bosma. “Because of illness and injury, we were missing a couple of runners that would have helped us out, but I am extremely proud of how the team performed. Many had PRs and kicked at the end.”
“It was great to see the team learning to run as a team and push each other,” continued Coach Bosma. “Benjamin Myron had a great night and hung with Kenneth Spielman and August Bredberg the entire time. He's really put forth some effort lately in practice and it's showing. Likewise, Darius Grussing is getting healthy after a nagging leg issue and ran really well tonight. He really pushed himself on the course. The guys ended up losing a close one on a tie-breaker with LPGE. Most meets, we are battling with them and on a match-up with the only other complete team, their 6th runner edged out ours. Both teams had 28 points.”
For the A-B-E girls, Lexi Bitzan and Ashley Paulson went back and forth for a lot of the race as did Naomi Fournier and Hope Rovang. LPGE won the team title with 20 points and Ashby-Brandon-Evansville was second with a score of 38.
“Another highlight was the "fun run" where we had 19 future Bolts running a mile,” added Bosma. “They had great excitement and it was awesome to watch the varsity team cheering them on.”
