Otters Take 28-0 Lead then Hold on for 28-14 Homecoming Win Over Perham

On homecoming night the Fergus Falls Otters scored the first 28 points of the game on the way to a 28-14 victory over the Perham Yellowjackets.  The Otters ran for 234 yards and passed for 106, giving them 340 yards of total offense.  The defense held Perham to 168 total yards and only one rushing yard on 27 attempts.

Fergus Falls capped a 4-play, 48-yard scoring drive with a 37 yard TD pass from Henry Bethel to Levi King and a Shane Zierden kick for a 7-0 lead with 2:20 left in quarter number one.

Griffin Babolian scored the next two touchdowns on runs of 25 yards and 4 yards.  Zierden added both PAT kicks for a 21-0 advantage at the half.

The third quarter saw Henry Bethel break free for a 41 yard TD run.  Zierden’s kick gave the Otters a 28-0 lead.

Perham scored both of their touchdowns in the third quarter as Gage Aanenson hauled n a 75 yard TD pass from Blaiz SchmidtHudson Hackel booted the extra point and it was 28-7.  Blaiz Schmidt then scored on a one yard run with just 2:28 remaining in the third quarter to cut the Otters lead to 28-14.  The fourth quarter was scoreless.

Fergus Falls was led on the ground by Babolian who had 145 yards on 27 carries and Bethel with 46 yards on 8 carries (5.8 yards per carry).  King was the top receiver with 3 catches for 67 yards and a score.  Alex Ellison caught two passes for 34 yards.  Bethel was 7-for-12 throwing the football for 106 yards.

Defensive leaders were Bethel (Interception) and Elijah Tollerson (3 solo tackles, 3 sacks).  Kellen Stenstrom, Ethan Gronwald, Carston Fronning and Treyson Dillon also had one sack.

Perham was led by Hudson Hackel (11 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles, Interception), Jaxon Vetch (6 total tackles, interception), Schmidt (13 completions, 18 attempts, 1 TD, 167 yards), Gage Aanenson (6 catches, 114 yards, TD).

Fergus Falls (2-3) will host Little Falls on Friday and Perham (2-3) has a game at Thief River Falls.
