The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Boys Soccer Team traveled across town to take on local rivals/friends (Fergus Falls) on Tuesday and defeated the Otters by the score of 2-0.  The Otters outshot the Comets, with 9 shots on goal.  Freshman Keeper, Franki Renner, recorded his second shutout of the season, perfect in the Comet net.  The Comets placed eight shots on the Otter goal.

21 minutes into the game, Fergus falls pushed forward on a counterattack with the Comets way forward and behind the attacking Otters.  Sophomore central midfielder, Drew Fischer, hustled back, broke up the attack and put the ball forward to Zane Holmquist.  Holmquist placed a perfect pass to Senior Captain, Abram Ness, who beat Otter Defenders and scored ending all scoring for the half with the Comets up 1-0.  24 minutes into the second half, with a high bouncing ball just outside the Otter 18, Abram Ness collected and scored on a left footed rocket from 20 yards, ending all scoring with the Comets up 2-0

“I was so proud of our team this evening!  The Comets continue to see tremendous growth in our young players which is exciting going forward into post season.  Sophomores Caleb Holm, Kian Stender and Lincoln Nash, continue to step up and provide team support.  We had heads up defensive support from Max Anderson, Senior Captain, Noah Bjorndahl, and Soren Floden.”

In JV action the Comets defeated the Otters 6-2, with the following scoring goals:

  • Will Selvig – direct free kick
  • EJ Cho
  • Niko Mahori – 2 goals
  • Davi Diniz – 2 goals

The Comets now 6-5-1 look to redeem their first game loss against the EGF GreenWave on Thursday at the Danielson Field.
