Brandon-Evansville paid a visit to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Tuesday for a Little Eight Conference volleyball match which the Chargers won 3-1 (25-23, 15-25, 25-16, 25-22).  “Plain and simple, tonight we struggled,” stated Hillcrest Head Coach Debi Foss.  “We had a ton of hitting errors, too many missed serves, and some miscommunication.”

“We knew this was going to be a hard fought match against a strong team,” said B-E Head Coach Gina Christopherson.  “The Chargers took hold and had a fantastic night including many long volleys.”

The Comets were led by Ella Knutson (1 ace serve, 7 serving points, 11 kills, 16 digs), Elsa Retzlaff (1 ace serve, 4 serving points, 5 kills, 14 digs, 1 block kill), Maddie Miller (5 digs, 3 serving points), Ruby Peterson (14/14 serving, 7 serving points, 1 ace serve, 37 set assists, 2 kills, 18 digs), Anna Brumfield (16/16 serving, 10 serving points, 13 kills, 18 digs, 1 block kill), Emily Adams (1 ace, 3 serving points, 11 kills, 2 digs, 1 block kill), Kenzie Miller (18/18 serving, 10 serving points, 5 kills, 3 digs, 4 block kills) and Chloe Walkup (6 digs).

“There is still so much we need to learn about playing at a consistent higher level,” noted Coach Foss.  “We did have moments when things would start to come together and even a nice run the last moments of the game.  I think each of the players had some really solid play throughout the game.  We just couldn’t string enough of it together at once.  While I’m disappointed with the conference loss, I still have confidence in what this group of girls can accomplish together when we keep our ‘EYES UP’!”

Hillcrest will play another Little Eight Conference match on Thursday in Ashby, while Brandon-Evansville travels to Graceville on Friday for a match against CGB.

No Brandon-Evansville stats were reported.
