Fergus Falls fell behind 27-0 at halftime to the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels.  The Rebels went on to defeat the Otters, 33-14.  DGF scored on their first four possessions of the game and accumulated 414 yards of total offense, including 342 yards on the ground.  They were led by Brody Friend (8 carries, 94 yards, 2 TDs) and Nick Waale (11 carries, 84 yards, 2 TDs).

The Rebels went on a 65 yard run resulting in a 12 yard run by quarterback Caleb Johnson and an extra point kick gave them a 7-0 lead.  On their next possession Friend scored his first TD of the night on a 10 yard run and the PAT made it 14-0.  Fergus Falls moved the ball into the red zone on the ensuing possession, however, they turned the ball over on downs.  Waale’s touchdown run of five yards capped a long scoring drive and made it 20-0.  Johnson then intercepted Henry Bethel and Friend’s second trip into the end zone, followed by the extra point kick, put the score at 27-0 heading into halftime.

DGF started the third quarter with a drive that took nearly six minutes off the clock but the Otter defense stopped them.  They failed to score, but forced a fumble on the Rebels next possession and were finally able to punch the ball into the end zone on an 8 yard run on 4th and goal.  Shane Zierden’s PAT made the score 27-7.  Waale scored for a second time, on a 30 yard run putting the score at 33-7.  The Otters finished off the scoring when Bethel hooked up with Kellen Stenstrom on a 14-yard touchdown pass.  Zierden’s kick put the final score at 33-14.

Bethel completed 17 passes for 161 yards and added 60 yards and a TD on the ground, carrying the ball 20 times.  Griffin Babolian had 17 carries for 49 yards.  Levi King (6 catches, 72 yards) was the leading receiver.  The Otters finished with 270 total yards.

Fergus Falls (1-1) returns home to face Detroit Lakes on Friday, September 15.

The Rebels (1-1) will travel to Thief River Falls for their next game.
