Hillcrest Lutheran Academy recorded their first win of the volleyball season on Tuesday when they handed Ada-Borup a 3-1 (25-22, 25-6, 14-25, 25-16) defeat.  “Tonight we got to celebrate our first win of the season on our home court,” reported Head Coach Debi Foss of the Comets.  “The girls performed well and did a fantastic job of fulfilling their roles and executing our game strategy.”

Anna Brumfield (19/19 serving, 15 serving points, 16 kills, 17 digs, 1 block kill), Ruby Peterson (15/15 serving, 8 serving points, 46 set assists, 3 kills, 16 digs), Emily Adams (12/13 serving, 5 serving points, 12 kills, 3 digs, 2 block kills), Ella Knutson (19/20 serving, 13 serving points, 11 kills, 19 digs), Elsa Retzlaff (17/18 serving, 10 serving points, 5 kills, 23 digs) and Kenzie Miller (7 kills, 2 digs, 5 block kills) led the Comets.  Chloe Walkup and Maddie Miller added 9 digs and 6 digs, respectively.

“We played with more consistency, reduced chaos, and an overall more determined effort to not let the ball hit the floor,” noted Coach Foss.  “We did take a mental dip in the third set which resulted in a loss, but then did a good job of regaining the momentum in the 4th set.  We served well tonight, which was also an improvement from our other two games.  Our tri-captains, Anna, Emily and Ruby, did a great job of leading our team tonight and we will continue to look to them for strong leadership.”

The Comets will travel to Hancock on Thursday for their first conference game of the season.
