The Hillcrest girls’ soccer team made some school history last season as they won two playoff games for the first time ever and made it to the Section 6A finals before ending their season with a 7-10 record.  Losing goalie Hannah Radzwill and Center Midfielder Malisa Oy will certainly be felt, as Head Coach Jeremy Mueller, now in his ninth season, prepares for the 2023 season with a young group of student-athletes.

“We have a very young, inexperienced team,” acknowledged Mueller.  “We greatly lack in most of the basic fundamentals, however, we have a lot of potential to build and develop for the future.”

Returning letter winners include junior Katie Holzner (Midfield), freshmen Paisley Garvin (Defense), Danna Rodriguez (Midfield) and McKinlee Ballweg (Goalie), and eighth-grader Alexa Ewan (Midfield).

Key newcomers for the Comets are senior Ava Lindgren (Forward), juniors Sarah Diniz (Defense) and Rebekka Fosse (Midfield) and freshman Trinity Baker (Midfield).

Mandi Smith (Varsity Assistant/JV) and Jeremy Forrester (Varsity Assistant/Goalie Coach) will assist Coach Mueller.

Mueller says East Grand Forks, Detroit Lakes and St. Cloud Cathedral are the Section 6A favorites.
