Perham Boys Earn Four Medals, Claim 3rd Place in Team Competition

The Perham boys’ track and field team had another strong showing at the Class A State Track and Field meet on Friday, earning medals in four events.  Bjorn Anderson, who won the 3200 meter run on Friday, was runner-up in the 1600 (4:19.91).  Micah Thompson was seventh in the 800 meter run (2:00.34).  In the 4x400 relay (3:27.82), the team of Aiden Kennedy, Blake Swenson, Micah Thompson and Bjorn Anderson ended up fourth, while the team of Swenson, Thompson, Dylan Guck and Isaac Paurus was seventh (8:06.88) in the 4x800 relay.

Braeden Bredman of Barnesville took fourth in the 400 (50.57) and fifth in the 200 (22.64).  Justin Jacobson of Pelican Rapids claimed third (161-05) in the discus and the Vikings Charlie Larson took sixth in the 1600 (4:24.94) and ninth in the 800 (2:02.98).

Bertha-Hewitt Verndale took fifth place (8:05.09) in the 4x800 relay with the foursome of Preston Miller, Zach Baumgartner, Zane Guderjahn and Brady Rach.  The DGF 4x400 relay team was ninth (3:31.92).

West Central Area athletes Roman Mihailovschi (high jump – 6-00.00) and Benjamin Nyreen (discus – 121-08), Jacob Kunkel (high jump – 6-00.00) of Breckenridge, Lyrik Haug (high jump – 6-02.00) of Wadena-Deer Creek, and Mason Dalluge (long jump – 20-09.00) of Ottertail Central did not place in their events.

St. Croix Lutheran won the boys’ team title with 41 points and Two Harbors was second with 35.  Perham came in third with 34 points, one ahead of fourth place Montevideo, and Chatfield finished fifth with 32 points.
