Evan Lindgren (3-3, 2R, RBI, SB, HBP) continued his hot hitting with 3 hits to lead the Comets at the plate. Ethan Swedberg (2-2, SB) and Isaac Iverson (1-4, 2RBI) also had productive at bats. The loss went to Jon Wutka (2IP, BB, 3ER, K).
“Playing against a tough team like Border West, we really responded to a mixture in our lineup and saw several guys step up,” Comets Head Coach Zach Stich said. “Evan and Ethan continue to swing the bat aggressively, and Isaac had a clutch hit to get us close. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the W.”
Dan Reisch (2-2, SB) and Swedberg (1-1) had the Comet hits in the game two loss. Nate Bermel (4IP, 2K, 9R, 7ER, 5BB) took the loss on the mound.
“The second game was a completely different story,” noted Stich. “It looked like we were up all night preparing for finals. The guys were gassed and it showed in our lack of execution.”
Hillcrest will play at double header at Benson on Tuesday, May 23.
