The Brandon-Evansville Chargers recorded a double header sweep of the Hillcrest Comets on Tuesday, winning 10-0 in the first game and 13-2 in game two.

Brady Perleberg (3IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB, 5K) was the winning pitcher in game one as the Chargers held the Comets to just one hit, a single by Jonathan Wutka.

“Brady gave us a quality start and both Dustin Gillespie and Riley Perleberg provided great relief pitching to secure the shutout,” commented Head Coach Brian Perleberg of B-E.  “Our main focus today was to cut down on the defensive miscues and the team responded to that challenge.  I’m very pleased with how we were able to manufacture runs in a game in which we weren’t hitting very well and we are starting to do some of the small, but important things, more consistently.  It’s encouraging to see us taking steps in the right direction during the early stages of this season.”

Dezmond White (1-1, 4RBI, 2R) and Riley Perleberg (1-1, 3R, 2BI) led the Chargers.  Carter White and Brady Perleberg also recorded hits.

Game two leaders were Carter White (2-3, 2B, 3R, 4RBI), Riley Perleberg (2-3, 2 2B, 2R, 3RBI), Dezmond White (2-3, R, RBI) and Brady Perleberg (2-3, 2B, BB).  The winning pitcher was Carter White (4IP, 4H, R, 3K).

“Carter had a very nice varsity debut on the mound and Hunter Grothen also toed the rubber for the first time,” said Coach Perleberg.  “Both pitchers hit the zone and allowed their defense to make plays behind them.  Offensively, we put the ball in play and ran the bases well and were able to capitalize on some extra opportunities.  We still have so many things to work on, but all in all, I’m pleased with the attitude, effort, and growth thus far.”

Brandon-Evansville travels to St. Johns Prep on Thursday and will host Hancock in a double header on Friday.
