Top-Seeded Totino-Grace Wins Semifinal Contest with Alexandria

Top-seeded Totino-Grace sent Alexandria Area to the third place game and advanced to the AAA State Boys Basketball Championship game with a 70-59 win over the Cardinals on Thursday at Target Center.  Totino-Grace shot 55% (28-51) from the field and made 7-of-12 (58%) from 3-point range.  They also won the rebounding battle, 29-20.

Totino-Grace placed four players in double figures, led by Tommy Humphries with 16 and Isaiah Johnson with 15.  Patrick Bath added 14 points and Taison Chatman had a dozen.  Humphries and Bath led the team with 8 rebounds each and Chatman just missed a double-double with 9 assists.  Johnson had a team high 3 steals.

Grayson Grove (21 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals) and Chase Thompson (16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) led Alexandria.  Jaxon Schoenrock added 8 points.  The Cardinals hit 52.5% (21-40) of their shots and made 10-of-24 (41.7%) from beyond the arc.

Alexandria (25-5) will now face second-seeded Orono for third place in AAA at 2:00pm Saturday at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University in St. Paul.  Orono fell to third-seeded DeLaSalle, 67-61, in their semifinal contest.
