Top-seeded Totino-Grace sent Alexandria Area to the third place game and advanced to the AAA State Boys Basketball Championship game with a 70-59 win over the Cardinals on Thursday at Target Center. Totino-Grace shot 55% (28-51) from the field and made 7-of-12 (58%) from 3-point range. They also won the rebounding battle, 29-20.
Grayson Grove scored 20 points, completed a double-double with 10 rebounds, blocked two shots and dished out 5 assists to lead the Alexandria Cardinals to a 62-57 win over fourth-seeded Mankato East in the quarterfinal round of the Class AAA Boys State Basketball Tournament at Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
The Minnesota State High School League sponsored Boys’ Basketball Tournament begins on Tuesday in the Twin Cities and goes through Saturday when champions will be crowned in all four classes and the winter sports season will come to a conclusion.
